andBeyond - Ngala Safari Lodge – Kruger National Park, South Africa

The interior design of this lodge was inspired by the Kruger Park itself with a nod to Victorian Explorers and adventurers referencing “the Grand Safari”.

THE BRIEF

Fox Browne Creative was tasked to redevelop an old 1990’s safari lodge on one of the original Kruger Park Campsites. The site confines dictated that the new buildings had to be rebuilt on the original camp layout. Our task was to lead the creative direction on the overall aesthetic as well as overall project management to make sure that the entire refurbishment was delivered on time and budget.

THE INSPIRATION

Architecturally the rooms needed more light, working with Julia Williams of Imprint Architecture, we created glass boxed bathroom extensions, allowing light to flood into the space. The interior design of this lodge was inspired by the Kruger Park itself with a nod to Victorian Explorers and adventurers referencing “the Grand Safari”.

THE RESULT

This lodge captures the essence of a typical Lowveld safari lodge with generous service, nostalgic food and comfortable, romantic spaces.
