Kwandwe - Ecca Lodge – Kwandwe Private Game Reserve, South Africa

The mid-century lines informed the selection of soft furnishings and accessories to create an interesting interior, giving it a sense of place.

The Brief

Nicholas Plewman Architects designed this outback farmhouse-inspired lodge in the eastern camp as part of the larger development of Kwandwe Game Reserve.

The Inspiration

This was the third lodge on the property, so it had to have a strong contemporary identity to set it apart from the other two more traditional thatch and stone lodges on the reserve. The mid-century lines informed the selection of soft furnishings and accessories to create an interesting interior, giving it a sense of place.

The Result

Opening in 2005, the lodge had a retro look to the interiors inspired by the vibrant flaming orange of the flowering Aloes prevalent in this region.

This lodge has since been refurbished by the new owners who have changed the look completely.
