THE BRIEF
In our role as Hospitality and Design consultants to andBeyond Travel, Fox Browne Creative was engaged to lead the process of the redevelopment of an existing Safari lodge in the Okavango Delta, from design through to operations, food and service.
Our brief was to create something extraordinary and iconic, a new Delta vernacular. The design had to complement the compelling destination of the Delta. We were also tasked to set a new footprint for sustainability.
THE INSPIRATION
Sandibe draws its inspiration directly from nature with organic shapes, natural textures, serene, earthy and organic pieces were chosen for the interiors. We approached the interior design of this lodge in such a way that the interiors did not compete with the architecture.
THE RESULT
The result was a collaborative effort between Fox Browne Creative, Nicholas Plewman Architects in South Africa and Michaelis Boyd Architects in London. Sandibe treads lightly on the forest floor and ecosystems. Seamlessly integrating Nature, architecture and interiors to create an unforgettable guest experience.
We are thrilled to have been nominated as winners in the prestigious Interior design category of the 2015 Gold Key Awards in the US.
