Sirai House – Laikipia, Kenya

THE BRIEF
The owners are courageously redefining the Bush Home experience in Kenya. Sirai House is a private bush home on Borana Ranch, a private conservancy in Laikipia Kenya. Fox Browne Creative was tasked with designing the interiors along with the owners, coordinating and purchasing furnishings, equipment and accessories. In addition, we trained all the staff, designed the food concepts and developed menus to ensure the house was ready for operation and occupation by the client.
THE INSPIRATION
The inspiration for the private bush home was to create a comfortable bush home with understated luxury, muted tones, natural textures and raw linens. It had to be subtle but undeniably luxurious and uber chic. The locally cut stone formed the base of the colour palette accentuated with deep aubergine, dark chocolate brown and natural stone. Local craftsmen were used on all aspects of the project from cutting the stone, layering raw wood finishes through to handcrafting furnishings.
THE RESULT
Sirai, like a pride of lions perched high on a mountainside, sits gently in its surroundings, at one with its native African flora and fauna.
