MORUKURU FAMILY - MADIKWE PRIVATE GAME RESERVE, SOUTH AFRICA
We took our inspiration from the famous Painted Dogs of the area, Tswana basket weave and the dense forest.
THE BRIEF
Morukuru Family Madikwe briefed Fox Browne Creative to refresh and update two family-owned and -run private villas, built over 15 years ago. Taking the brief directly from the owners, it was important that the houses retain the feel of private family homes.
THE INSPIRATION
Set amidst the enormous Tamboti trees on a dry riverbed in a private concession in the southeast corner of the 75,000-hectare Madikwe Private Game Reserve, we took our inspiration from the famous Painted Dogs of the area, Tswana basket weave, and the dense forest.
THE RESULT
The result is an updated and refreshed look with a contemporary, light-hearted feel as well as a strong sense of place.
