ANDBEYOND - PHINDA MOUNTAIN LODGE – PHINDA PRIVATE GAME RESERVE, SOUTH AFRICA

THE BRIEF
Fox Browne Creative was tasked with the refurbishment of andBeyond Phinda Mountain Lodge, a 25-year-old lodge in their portfolio, to bring the lodge in line with the quality and standard of the rest of the lodge product on the And Beyond Phinda Reserve. Our brief was to create a strong identity within the Phinda Family but keep it practical for larger groups and families.
THE INSPIRATION
Our inspiration came from the location itself with a focus on vibrant Zulu culture blending traditional craft with contemporary design. The slate blue palette is inspired by the nearby ocean which gives an unusual base to layer on an African palette. Collaborating with some of our favourites South African designers including Mash T, UrbanNative and Houtlander to name a few, to create a truly unique feel to this classic lodge.
THE RESULT
The result is a full soft refurbishment with new fittings and fixtures in all the rooms as well as a totally re-imagined guest area reworked and opened up to views to create more indoor lounging space. We included an interactive cooking area and pizza oven in the dining room, comfy banquet seating and a new glamourous fully kitted bar. By connecting the guest area via raised walkways to the new gym, spa and pool we were able to provide guests with a spectacular view of the Lebombo foothills of Zululand.
