African Bush Camps - Somalisa Camps – Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe
The result is an eclectic, soulful arrangement of furnishings oriented towards the bustling waterhole which sometimes has herds of 300 elephant drinking at one time.
THE BRIEF
This project included the re-styling of two camps that are adjacent to each other with one catering to families and groups and the other to individuals.
We were tasked to imagine a new look for the iconic Somalisa Tented Camp, one of Hwange National Parks best-loved lodges. Our brief included food and hospitality training.
THE INSPIRATION
We wanted to create a feeling of home away from home which is a mainstay the African Bush Camps brand. Our Inspiration was the abundance of Zimbabwean building materials including rich hardwoods, hand-forged metal, copper and curated vintage pieces.
THE RESULT
The result is an eclectic, soulful arrangement of furnishings oriented towards the bustling waterhole which sometimes has herds of 300 elephant drinking at one time. We wanted the space to feel unmistakably Zimbabwean. We feel we have achieved this.
