ALICE VAN DER SPUY | OPERATING, SMALLS AND EQUIPMENT DESIGNER
As a recently graduated interior design student, my role at Fox Browne Creative focuses specifically on designing and developing the detailed guest touchpoints that add layers and depth to the unique guest experiences we create. In addition to crafting unique guest service equipment pieces, my responsibility includes exhaustively sourcing the most sustainable, appropriate, emotive, and durable equipment.
During my time with the team so far, I have been immersed in projects ranging from the Timbavati Game Reserve in South Africa to Laikipia in Northern Kenya and Zanzibar. This involves designing guest experiences alongside the team, as well as budgeting, planning, and procurement. Working closely with the design and hospitality teams, we ensure that on-the-ground hospitality teams have practical tools and thoughtfully designed equipment for every scenario, seamlessly integrating inspired spaces with gracious hospitality.
Fox Browne Creative provides a unique working environment that offers opportunities to gain knowledge in interior design, hospitality, business finance, budgeting, project management, architecture, and operations. This is fostered by a transparent and inspiring work culture crafted by Chris and Debra. I am inspired daily by the art our company creates through collaboration and African design flair, all while enjoying the journey.
From bartending at a small wine bar in Cape Town to working for the Constitutional Hill Trust on archiving and copywriting, to assisting at the Anatomy Design interior design showroom on weekends, my journey has led me to Fox Browne Creative. Here, I am honoured to continue learning and growing.
